BSR_S05E01 - Welcome To The Shiva House
Today on the podcast, Ben Behrend and Logan Gabriel Schulman talk about the 2020 Philly Fringe Festival production of “welcome To The Shiva House”. This virtual is a take on a Jewish celebration of life that brings loved ones together. In this moment, nothing is as it should be. Here is my interview with Ben Behrend and Logan Gabriel Schulman.
About Welcome To The Shiva House
Shiva (/shiv-UH/) is the seven-day Jewish mourning period following the burial of a loved one. This traditionally involves joining the bereaved in their home for recollection and comfort. On the seventh and final day of Shiva, we gather to memorialize and celebrate the larger-than-life Sam Bloom. This virtual play combines live digital performance, audience participation, a guided-audio walking meditation, and a companion booklet to augment each audience member’s experience.
About The Artists
Schulman and Behrend have been collaborating on bold new theater works since 2017, responding to and reflecting on questions of faith, loss, and the pep-zing-zap of life in between.
